Odysseus continued his perilous voyage, fighting off the scores of monsters that stood in his way. Days turned into months and all the while Odysseus could think of nothing but returning to the beautiful sights of Ithaca. In his mind, the town stood timelessly perched above the waves, eagerly awaiting the return of its triumphant hero.
See Prudent Odysseus.
Perhaps derived from Greek οδυσσομαι (odyssomai) "to hate". In Greek legend Odysseus was one of the Greek heroes who fought in the Trojan War. In the 'Odyssey' Homer relates Odysseus's misadventures on his way back to his kingdom and his wife Penelope. BehindTheName.com
