Renoir alone had succeeded in performing miraculous feats forbidden by the founders of bloodstone magic, and as the years passed she continued to create. As her magic spread across the far reaches of Neotellus and helped even more people, it became increasingly clear that she was nothing less than a genius. But those tremendous heights meant when she fell, it was all the harder. The failure caused by her hubris nearly cost the lives of both her friends.

Renoir is a surname, a phonetic corruption of the French surname, "Renouard". Literally each element translates as re "again" and noir "colour black".
