Meris soon grew accustomed to the dangers that accompanied travel. When she encountered a band of monsters wondering around a cemetary, she whipped out her double pistols and sent them to their graves. Gone was the naive noble's daughter, replaced by a seasoned adventurer who knew no fear. Her countless brushes with death had made her far tougher than a sheltered life inside a mansion ever could.
Meris is a variant of English ans Estonian feminine name Maris and English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and German Marisa of Latin origin; the meaning is "of the sea", derived from the Latin maris "sea". It is taken from Stella Maris, "star of the sea", an epithet for the Virgin Mary.
