Stella was sold by her destitute parents for a week's worth of food to be an arena sideshow. To condition the audience before the main event, she was pitted against all manner of beasts, from eagles to goblins, who would have instantly eviscerated her had she not been given a humble dagger. Everyone waited breathlessly for the spectacle of her gory death, but her stubborn will refused to provide them with that satisfaction.
