(Destruct) Maria, Pursuer of Evil

LoreEdit

As she traveled across various distant and foreign lands overcoming numerous trying ordeals along the way, Maria's confidence grew and grew. Though it would have been foolish for her to try to combat the kind of evil force that can ruin an entire nation in a single night alone, she desperately wished to contribute in someway to its downfall... Her heart flushed with determination, Maria pursued the fearsome menace. But she failed to take heed of the dull but powerful desire that was coming to the forefront of her mind -- that desire for destruction that curses all with whom Ulrich crosses paths.

Name originEdit

Maria is a female given name in many diverse cultures with different meanings: "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", "beloved, love", "star of the sea" or "wished for child". In the Roman Empire, the name was used as a feminine form of the Roman name Marius. It became popular with the spread of Christianity as a Latinized form of the Hebrew name Miryam. As a result the Latin Maria and the Hebrew-derived Maria combined to form a single name. The meaning of the Semitic-rooted name is uncertain, but it may originally be an Egyptian name, probably derived from mry "beloved" or mr "love" ("eminent lady" or "beloved lady"). The meaning of the Latin-rooted name is similarly ambiguous, possibly deriving from mare ("sea" in Latin), maris ("male"), or the name of the god Mars.
