Other villagers had spotted the white beast roaming near the woodland fringe. They said it was tearing up the vegetation and wildlife, and that prompted talk of hiring able hunters to kill it. I learned of their plans and ran to the forest to urge the beast to run away. Unfortunately, my words had no effect and it continued to roar and lash out at anything that approached it.
