Nothing could convince Vargiu to change his mind. As he possessed the same strength of those mystical beings he had once worshiped, soon the disciple's hands were awash with blood. "Worship can never mean subjugation," he realized. The gods had no right to take the lives of innocents on a whim. When he heard the screams, Vargiu believed that his contesting the gods, blade at the ready, was a manifestation of his faith.
Vargiu is probably an Italian surname.
