When the imperial prince Beldine arrived, it was already too late. The entire village had been razed and its dwellers were but lifeless husks on the ground. He gently lifted one of the bodies. The body had belonged to a commoner, but he had been a sworn friend to the prince despite the class difference. They had been similar of mind from the start, yet the village was destroyed out of the fear that he had been influencing the prince with "biased thoughts". As Beldine cradled the remains, he closed his eyes and prayed.
