The black wolves were quite the special breed. Their loyalty to their master was absolute -- should he perish, they would die along with him. This loyalty worked both ways, however, for members of Ranbart's tribe took their own lives if their lifelong companions fell before they did. In this way, wolf and man formed a single pack held together by bonds stronger than the toughest steel. To face these resolute warriors in battle was a perilous task indeed.
