The Phantom of the Opera comes from the famous book, movie, and play that had a protagonist titled simply the Phantom of the Opera, or in some cases the Opera Ghost or Erik. In his story he falls for a girl named Christine, and tries to win her love through heightening her career, but she has a conflict of interest when her old love, Raoul, walks back into her life. Erik's true psychotic nature shows through as he steals back his love through manipulation and cleverness in his death trap that is the Paris Opera House. Despite all of his efforts, however, he lets Christine go back to her lover.
