The demonbeast Poise was highly intelligent and had the ability to understand and use human speech. Even so, he had never once heard an opponent pleading for his life. Poise was controlled by his appetite for meat and destruction. People's words were nothing more than annoying background noise. Once Poise grew violent, the only thing that could calm him was the death of his opponent.
