Gilda had perished. To stand against the imperial army that marched upon her hometown, she had invoked a forbidden spell to summon an evil god. The staggering power she obtained had allowed her to repel the invading forces, but the injuries and exhaustion nevertheless proved fatal. However, though she had sacrificed her life, the god had not, and he was displeased with her miserable fate.
