The fairy Ilva was an embodiment of winter itself, so she was able to wear scanty, revealing gowns despite the frigid weather. It was her intention to entice a human as accompaniment for her approaching hibernation. If she was unable to find a companion before the spring breeze lulled her into a deep slumber, she would have no aid in dispelling the nightmares that would torment her until the next winter.
