The modesty of their assemblage did not prevent her from leading them to repeated victories against armies several times their size. It was to their seeming fortune that such a talented tactician had appeared when they needed one most. She was lauded greatly for her leadership, but in the hour of their victory banquet, she and her ever-present crow vanished. For that reason, they believed her to be a divine spirit sent by the gods, and so she was called "Ashura."
