The forest ranger rarely had any interaction with others, save for those so repulsed by his terrifying appearance that they pelted him with sticks and stones. Intruders were rare but welcome occurrences in his daily routine. However, trespassers could always sense the danger and escape into the thicket with nothing but pleading apologies left in their wake. Gloomily, the ranger began his nightly rounds again, hoping for another chance encounter.
