The gods desired the aidand powers of Mansemat. She silently bowed her head in assent. Though a demon, she was loved and protected by a great many gods. They were to her what parents are to their children: irreplaceable. Most of the demons had sided with the Shadow King, but Mansemat pledged without hesitation to his subjugation.
